San Antonio is a very large city located in the state of Texas. With a population of 1,359,758 people and 322 constituent neighborhoods, San Antonio is the second largest community in Texas.

Unlike some cities, San Antonio isn’t mainly white- or blue-collar. Instead, the most prevalent occupations for people in San Antonio are a mix of both white- and blue-collar jobs. Overall, San Antonio is a city of sales and office workers, service providers and professionals. There are especially a lot of people living in San Antonio who work in office and administrative support (16.48%), sales jobs (11.33%) and management occupations (8.00%).

One important feature of San Antonio is that it is one of the most car-oriented large cities in the country. In fact, 80.82% of people commute to and from work every day by private automobile, eschewing alternative forms of transportation, which are not widely available in San Antonio anyway. So, if you like to drive, San Antonio is the city for you! The landscape around San Antonio reflects this: wide streets, parking lots, plenty of highways, malls, and shopping centers are what you'll find.

San Antonio Information and Demographics

The education level of San Antonio citizens is a little higher than the average for US cities and towns: 23.66% of adults in San Antonio have at least a bachelor's degree.

The per capita income in San Antonio in 2010 was $21,812, which is upper middle income relative to Texas, and middle income relative to the rest of the US. This equates to an annual income of $87,248 for a family of four. However, San Antonio contains both very wealthy and poor people as well.

San Antonio is a very ethnically-diverse city. The people who call San Antonio home describe themselves as belonging to a variety of racial and ethnic groups. The greatest number of San Antonio residents report their race to be White, followed by Black or African-American. San Antonio also has a sizeable Hispanic population (people of Hispanic origin can be of any race). People of Hispanic or Latino origin account for 63.20% of the city’s residents. Important ancestries of people in San Antonio include German, English and Irish.

The most common language spoken in San Antonio is English. Some people also speak Spanish.
